J.Crew Luxe Terry Un-SweatPants

un-sweatpants

A luxe cotton-linen blend styled sweet in a fit that's relaxed at the hips, skinny at the ankle; I'm loving these luxe terry un-sweatpant sweatpants by J.Crew.

Sure they're lounge-wear, but what's not to love? With ankle zips and a dainty drawstring, these pants are the perfect casual alternative for off-days and weekending.

And on damp, gloomy days like today, I'm wishing I could be wearing them.

J.Crew Curator Pants

J.Crew Curator Pants

My quest for the perfect summer pant ends today.

Criteria on my list?

  1. An easy, loose fit that sits and stays on my hips. (Check!)
  2. A moderate rise - read: NO harem pants. (Check!)
  3. A skinny, cropped - dare I say 'tapered'? - leg. (Check!)
  4. Black. (Check!)
  5. Flattering back pockets - if any at all. (Check!)
Loving J.Crew's curator pants for those reasons and more. Made from a lightweight jersey, these pants are a cool alternative for summer heat. I like style - it's relaxed without looking disheveled, - and the fact that they're chic enough for work or play. The patch pockets and exposed zip at back are a unique alternative to all those button-front styles out there.
And remember, working urban tailoring takes confidence, so these pants aren't for the faint of heart.
Kind of like leggings, but more loose.

Stella McCartney Tailored Silk Jumpsuit

Stella McCartney Silk Jumpsuit

While I've got some issues with Alice by Temperley's 80s-esque take on the jumpsuit, I'm asbolutely head over sky-high heels for this silk jumpsuit by Stella McCartney. This is probably due one-third to the quality construction, one-third to the fact that it's not-so-basic black, and one-third that it's made from the smoothest silk.

Factor these things together, and you've got a wardrobe go-to piece that you'll keep for seasons to come. Just think of it: You could style this jumpsuit right for work, for evening, or even for a gala event. It's a classy suit! It has structured shoulders, it's cinched at the waist with a detailed self-tie belt, and has the most slimming ankle-length pant I've seen in a while.

And don't forget the details: A wrap-over v-neck, cut-out collar, and zip-fastening cuffs on the sleeves.

Love!

J.Crew stretch wool élan trouser

J.Crew stretch elan wool trouser

I've said it before and I'll say it again: It's the greatest feeling when you find a pair of pants that actually fits, and you buy them in every color, because you don't know when you'll come across the same fit again.

It happens to me quite frequently when I shop J.Crew. Seriously, each pair of pants I've purchased fits precisely how I want it to.

Take J.Crew's stretch wool élan trouser, for example. You'd think at first look that pleats would be a. unflattering, b. unflattering, and c. ill-fitting, but really, these trousers are the exact opposite. They've got an easy-chic fit, that's fitted at the hip, more full through the thigh, and both cropped and skinny-esque at the bottom. The hems are cuffed.

These stretchy wool pants feature slant pockets on the front - almost hidden, completely flattering - and welt pockets in the back. They're completely comfy, which is great for both office dress and after-work play. Worn with a loose silk tank, boyfriend blazer, and some sky high-heels, and you've got a look that you can wear anywhere.

J.Crew Pixie Pants

J.Crew Pixie Pants

If you're anything like me, there are times when you're shopping and you find that perfect dress-pants-shirt-skirt-sweater, and think "This is it." Right? Right.

And when that happens, I really, strongly, and seriously urge you to buy at least two of whatever that item may be. Not that I'm suggesting you should become a total dress-pants-shirt-skirt-sweater horse, but I kind of am.

Take these J.Crew pixie pants for example. They fit like a glove, come in black and navigator blue (which is more teal than blue), and they feature a super-soft STRETCH blend of nylon/vicose. (READ: Wear after wear, you'll never have to worry about those annoying fuzzy nubs.)

Also, they feature fantastic details: Check the jodhpur yoke detail on the inside knee, the exposed back zip, and the comfy waistband. On top of that, J.Crew's pixie pants have a 30-inch inseam, so they're cropped Audrey-style, and who doesn't love that?
